Rebecca Gilman

Rebecca Gilman is an American playwright, the first to win an Evening Standard Award, which she won for Most Promising Playwright. She is also the recipient of a Harper Lee, Scott McPherson, George Devine, Great Plains Playwright, Theatre Masters Visionary, and Roger L. Stevens Awards, a Prince Prize for Commissioning New Work, and Guggenheim and Illinois Arts Council Fellowships. Her play, Boy Gets Girl received an Olivier nomination for Best New Play (Goodman Theatre), and she was named a finalist for a Pulitzer Prize for her play, The Glory of Living (MCC Theater).

Other plays include Luna Gale, A True History of the Johnstown Flood, Dollhouse, Spinning Into Butter, and Blue Surge (Goodman Theatre); The Crowd You’re in With and The Sweetest Swing in Baseball (Magic Theatre); The Heart is a Lonely Hunter (Steppenwolf Theatre); and Lord Butterscotch and the Curse of the Dakwater Phantom (Blindfaith Theatre).
