George Sprague Brooks was a playwright, author, editor, and lecturer whose work appeared frequently in the Saturday Evening Post. Having fought in the First World War, Brooks later became a journalist for the Rochester Herald, a New York state newspaper.
After becoming the managing editor of McCLure's magazine, Brooks wrote his first play, Spread Eagle, in tandem with Henry Clune, which was first produced on Broadway (Martin Beck Theatre).
Contracted to the Fox Film Company, three of his screenplays were produced as the films Big News, The Three Sisters, and Double Cross Roads.
