John Pielmeier is an American playwright and screenwriter. He began his career as an actor, working with such repertory companies as Actors Theater of Louisville and the Guthrie Theater.
Broadway works include his debut Agnes of God (Music Box Theatre), Voices in the Dark (Longacre Theatre), Sleight of Hand (Cort Theatre), and The Boys of Winter (Biltmore Theatre). Regional works include The Exorcist (Geffen Playhouse), Slow Dance with a Hot Pickup (Queens Theatre), Madonna and Child (Orlando Shakespeare Theater), Willi and Young Rube (Repertory Theatre of St. Louis), and Courage (Actors Theatre of Louisville).
Film credits include Gifted Hands, Sybil, Living with the Dead, Flowers for Algernon, Original Sins, The Shell Seekers, and Choices of the Heart.
Television miniseries credits include CBS’ Hitler: The Rise of Evil, Lifetime’s The Capture of the Green River Killer, CBC’s The Pillars of the Earth, and Channel 4’s World Without End.
