Michael Lapthorn is a Chicago theatre actor and set designer. He starred as Brackett in The Scarlet Letter (Lookingglass Theatre). 

As a set designer, he worked on the productions of Up Against It (Lookingglass Theatre); Lions in the Street (Roadworks Productions); and School House of Rock Live! (theatreBAM). 

He has designed exhibitions at the The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Minneapolis Institute of Art.
