Marsha Norman

Marsha Norman is an American playwright, screenwriter, and novelist. Broadway works include the Pulitzer Prize-winning 'night Mother (John Golden Theatre), The Red Shoes (Gershwin Theatre), Tony Award-winning The Secret Garden (St. James Theatre), The Bridges of Madison County (Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre), and The Color Purple (Broadway Theatre). Off-Broadway works include Last Dance (N.Y.C. Center Stage),Trudy Blue (MCC Theater), Love's Fire: Fresh Numbers by Seven American Playwrights (Newman Theatre), and Getting Out (Lucille Lortel Theatre). Regional works include October Sky (Marriott Theatre), 140 (Studio Theatre), D. Boone, Circus Valentine, Merry Christmas, and Sarah and Abraham (Actors Theatre of Louisville), The Holdup (A.C.T.), Traveler in the Dark (Cincinnati Playhouse), In Your Arms (Old Globe Theatre), Discovering the Future (Arena Stage), and Caraboo, Princess of Javasu (Dodger Stages).

She also won a Peabody Award for her writing on HBO’s In Treatment.
