Macon McCalman was an American television, stage, and big screen movie actor. He is best known for Fall Down, Fried Green Tomatoes, Smokey and the Bandit, and Deliverance. Other film credits include Rosewood, A Walk in the Clouds, The Client, Doc Hollywood, The Falcon and the Snowman, Marie, Honkytonk Man, Dead & Buried, Comes a Horseman, and Slap Shot.
Television credits include Judge Whitney Baldwin on NBC’s L.A. Law, Gorman on CBS’ Dallas, Mr. Kaczmarek on NBC’s The Bronx Zoo, Roland Wood on ABC’s Three’s Company, and Mayor Fletcher on ABC’s Best of the West.
Broadway theatre credits include his debut as Townsperson in The Playboy of the Western World, Dr. Thomas Stockmann/Others in An Enemy of the People, and Choragos in Antigone (Vivian Beaumont Theatre), and W.H. Brady/Senator Austin/Ninnian Edwards in The Last of Mrs. Lincoln (ANTA Playhouse).
