Jon Robin Baitz is an American playwright, screenwriter, television producer, and occasional actor. Baitz wrote and directed the two-character play Three Hotels, based on his parents, for a presentation of PBS's American Playhouse, then reworked the material for the stage. He co-scripted The Frightening Frammis, which aired as an episode of the Showtime anthology series, Fallen Angels.
Written works for the Broadway stage include his debut, the book adaptation of Hedda Gabler (Ambassador Theatre); and original play, Other Desert Cities (Booth Theatre). Off-Broadway written works include A Fair Country, Ten Unknowns, and The Substance of Fire (Mitzi Newhouse Theatre); The Paris Letter (Laura Pels Theatre); Chinese Friends and The End of the Day (Playwrights Horizons); Mizlansky/Zilinsky (Schmucks) (City Center); Three Hotels (Circle Repertory); and The Film Society (McGinn-Cazale Theatre).
Film screenplays include People I Know, Stonewall, and the adaptation of his own work, Substance of Fire.
