Gordon Hunt was nominated twice for the Directors Guild of America Award for best director of a comedy, and the award for ‘The Alan Brady Show’ episode of Mad About You. He has directed plays and musicals on both coasts including the all-star Centennial Salute to Noël Coward at Carnegie Hall, and My Fair Lady at the Hollywood Bowl. He has been nominated for three Ovation Awards – two for Stand Up Opera starring BJ Ward, and one for She Loves Me, which he directed for Reprise. For L.A. Theatre Works he has directed a number of shows including the very first production; a fourteen-hour version of Sinclair Lewis’s Babbitt featuring Ed Asner and an all-star cast, and Black Water, an opera with libretto by Joyce Carol Oates. He is the author of the best-selling theatre book “How To Audition”, and as a lyricist he won the MACC (Manhattan Association of Clubs and Cabaret) Award for the song Errol Flynn which he wrote with Amanda McBroom.
