Diane Rodriguez is a director, playwright, and Off Broadway Obie Award winning actor. She wrote, directed, and premiered two of her own full length works: Living Large (2012 premiere at Teatro Luna in Chicago) and The Sweeheart Deal (2017 premiere at the Los Angeles Theatre Center). This season she is developing to direct a Center Theatre Group commission, Venice is Dead by Roger G. Smith and Richard Montoya. She will direct Culture Clash in Bordertown Now in 2018 at The Pasadena Playhouse. She has directed for Playwright’s Arena, Erik Patterson’s world premiere production SICK (Best Director Nomination LA Weekly Awards) as well as for East West Players, Cornerstone Theater Company, South Coast Repertory, the Fountain Theatre, Center Theatre Group, the Odyssey Theatre, City Theatre in Pittsburgh, PA, Mixed Blood in Minneapolis, Actor’s Theatre of Phoenix (Two Best Director Nominations, Arizoni Theatre Awards), Borderlands Theatre, Phoenix Theatre, Victory Gardens in Chicago, among others. She was a 2017 Directing Fellow for Sundance Theatre Lab in Arles, France, and the 2016 Denham Directing Fellow for the Stage Directors and Choreographer’s Foundation.
