David Birney

David Birney is an American actor and director, best known as Dr. Ben Samuels on NBC’s St. Elsewhere and Paulo De Matzee/Mike Adler on ABC’s The Love Boat. Other television credits include David Blackwell in CBS’ miniseries, Master of the Game, Jonathan 'Jon' Ferrier in OPT’s miniseries, Testimony of Two Men, Paul Rogers in NBC’s miniseries, Tales of the Unexpected, and John Quincy Adams (age 36-48) in PBS’ miniseries, The Adams Chronicles.

Film credits include Always Remember I Love You, Love and Betrayal, The Five of Me, Someone’s Watching Me!, Saint Joan, and Oh, God! Book II.

Broadway credits include his debut as Cleante in The Miser, Haemon in Antigone, Hovstad in An Enemy of the People, Christy Mahon in The Playboy of the Western World, and Yang Sun in The Good Woman of Setzuan (Vivian Beaumont Theatre), David in Benefactors (Brooks Atkinson Theatre), and Antonio Salieri in Amadeus (Broadhurst Theatre).
