Claudia Allen is a prolific contemporary playwright, perhaps best known for her association with Chicago's Victory Gardens Theater, where many of her plays have been produced. Author of more than 30 plays, Allen’s works on lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) topics have been widely produced around the country. She has been named Best Playwright by Chicago Magazine and was a recipient of the Chicago Adapt Disability Arts and Culture Award.

Theatre works include her anthology She’s Always Liked the Girls Best includes her plays Roomers, Raincheck, Hannah Free, and Movie Queens (Bailiwick Repertory) and Unspoken Prayers, I Sailed With Magellan, Hanging Fire, Fossils, Cahoots, Winter, Deed of Trust, Ripe Conditions, Still Waters, and The Long Awaited (Victory Gardens Theater).
