Michael Bloom

Michael Bloom directed the American Premier of The Writing Game at the American Repertory Theatre. His credits include the original production of Donald Margulies' Sight Unseen at the Manhattan Theatre Club which received three Obies and for which he received a Drama Desk nomination. He first directed the play at South Coast Rep. (winning a Dramalogue), where he most recently directed Anthony Clarvoe's Let's Play Too. He directed The Substance of Fire at Seattle Rep., Nora at Williamstown Theatre Festival and  The Glass Menagerie in Japanese at Tokyo's Theatre Cocoon. He has directed at the Alliance Theatre Company, the Long Wharf Theatre, the Sundance Institute, The Philadelphia Festival Theatre and in New York at the SoHo Repertory Theatre and the WPA. Michael writes about theatre for the New York Times and American Theatre Magazine. He has taught in the theater department at UCLA and completed a noir short, Trouble Times Two.
